May 15 marks Nakba Day. Nakba means “catastrophe” in Arabic and refers to the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians. In 1948, with the “establishment of Israel”— an invasion by the Israeli military and armed groups—Approximately 750,000 Palestinians who had lived in the region for generations and passed down their history and culture were violently expelled from their homeland. Until this day, an estimated 9 million* Palestinians have been expelled, and are still being denied the right to return.
We cannot overlook the ongoing human rights violations committed by Israel anymore. The occupation, blockades, illegal imprisonment, and many more violations have been far too long normalized. The right of the Palestinian people to live on their land, to pass down memories and culture, to hold self-determination as a nation, must be upheld.
Japan is also complicit in the attempts by the United States and Israel to change the status quo by force and its violation rooted the colonial aggression and oppressions. Let us continue to think and act to end the occupation of indigenous lands.
Bring and fill the streets with Palestinian flags to make the rights of Palestine visible and to amplify the voices of Palestinians.
Demands the governments to sanction Israel. Call out and boycott corporations who are complicit.
Let’s raise our voices together wherever you are!

Organizers:Palestinians of Japan and Peace for Palestine! Emergency action
